Hummingbird Cuteness!

...

Today was an unexpectedly sunny day. Robb and I were sitting out in our garden, eating breakfast, when a hummingbird flew up to the crocosmia plant. I'm not sure what it is about this plant's leaves, but they have some quality that makes water bead up on them.

The hummingbird enchanted us, by drinking the dewdrops.

And then he started rolling around on the leaves, and taking the tiniest bird bath imaginable.

It was insanely adorable.

That does sound insanely adorable. I'm envious with your humming bird encounter. They're such beautiful birds.

The Anna's Hummingbirds stay here, year-round. They're aggressive little stinkers, and we love 'em!

I can only imagine a humming bird rolling up it's sleeve to reveal it's 'guns' looking down at a human bulls eye. hehehe

The hummingbirds love the color red, that's about all I know.

Sometimes our encounters with animal life consists of us smelling our neighbor's cow flop.

Hopefully the more work you do in your yard, the more the birds will show up- maybe one day you can have a "hummingbird banding party" that I hear about from wildlife groups!

We had an immature baby Anna's hummingbird lite on our geranium for a couple of days before it was strong enough to fly. She was a half inch long with a tongue like a needle. Her anxious mom hovered nearby....they both accepted hummerfeed from the syringe we used and they THOROUGHLY enchanted us.
