Three Years

...

It has been three years since Robb broke his back. Time has moved very strangely in that time. The earliest days and weeks after the accident stretch out in ways that do not correspond to their actual length. In some ways, it seems like the accident was just a few months ago. And on other ways, all that seems like a lifetime ago.

We are glad to have come as far as we have.

Re-learning how to stand and how to walk. Starting to cycle. And then cycling over three thousand miles. Redefining what "normal" means in our lives.

And we want to thank all of our friends, who have been with us along this strange journey.

Thank you both for sharing this incredible journey. Your openness and introspection have allowed us to share your sorrows, frustrations, and joys. We hope to share many more of your achievements and positive milestones in the future.

Thank YOU for sharing your journey to intimately with us through your writing and photos. I'm always amazed at how boldly you share the negatives as well as the positives, and how willing you are to make yourselves vulnerable for us.

LOVE seeing the photos of Robb on his bike. It's been 3 years!? Hard to believe. Your "positivity effect" is a blessing. (I thought I was being smart and making up a word for Lisa. On the contrary . . . it's in Wikipedia.)
Robb & Lisa - thanks for sharing and I hope that you continue to do so.

There are not enough superlatives in our vocabulary to express our fondness for you, Lisa, Robb and this blog. You've taught us so much, caused us to ponder and to think about things we never knew we didn't know anything about. Waterfowl, recumbent bikes, wallpaper, paralysis, tide pools, kintting. . .the list goes on.

Keep writing. Keep us in your loop. We love you both.
