It is a truth universally acknowledged,

...

That a sewing project laid upon the parlor floor, must be in want of a cat.

I set this quilt down on the floor, in order to look at it. I asked, rhetorically, how long it would take for Linguine to lay down on it.

What I didn't realize is that the feral cat, Cardigan, had slipped into the house.

There's clearly a very strong gravitational pull between quilts and cats. Why, the poor things have been sucked in to the point that they cannot even stand up!

too funny! I definitely agree that this is a universal truth. In our house it is completely impossible to do a sewing project without first removing the cats from the room. No matter how big a piece of fabric I am using, they seem to be most attracted to the one spot where I am working!

Beautiful quilt. Is that an Irish Chain? I see you are hand quilting it, too. I've managed to finish one quilt but I sent it out to be machine quilted. I took a class on machine quilting but I don't have much confidence to do it. I should take a class on hand quilting.

By the way, try to remove two 60 lb boxers from your sewing project!

Debbie -- I'm totally self taught. If you do take a hand quilting class, and learn anything brilliant, do let me know!

It is an Irish Chain! I always forget that name, so thank you for reminding me.

That little Cardigan is getting less feral by the day! How is Linguine handling the turf intrusion?

Neat quilting. I'll admit I know nothing of the art, but I do appreciate handmade things. That's not to say I'm not innovative with scraps of fabric--Ben has been painting his guitar in the garden, and I've been sneaking strips of his ragged drop-cloth to support my tomatoes! (I've got little green 'maters everywhere, maturing as fast as they can, but who knows how they'll do in this weird weather!)
One of the reasons I put a design wall in my house was the project-on-the-floor law: any cat within shouting distance will land upon it within 5 minutes. Now I hope for someday to have silent sewing machines because the sound of mine running has Bobo on my lap then up on the quilt I'm working on almost immediately. I've put an enticing 'kitty quilt' on my sewing table just for him to lie on and after several minutes of petting and purring, I can usually get him to settle there and out of my way. They just LOVE us, that's all.

But you see, Linguine is the pro since he had the good sense to sit right on top of your hoop. Cardigan has much to learn!
Love the quilt! I'm a fan of the classics when it comes to quilting.
Too cute. You'd almost think part of that quilt was made of velcro...they both look rather stuck to it :P

I can't believe a feral cat was sucked into the hand made object vortex! Is that him at the top?

Wow you can sew AND knit. Very talented!
