Valentine's Date

...

What did Robb and I do to celebrate love?

We went cycling and bird-watching at some local Sewage Reclamation Ponds.

My, but we lead a romantic life!

We wouldn't have it any other way.

there's something...not entirely graceless, mind, but clumsy nevertheless about the presence of an owl on a power line. Its just one of those nature scenes you don't expect to see. Like training a horse to sit. You just don't see it done, so you presume it can't be. (i'm pretty sure horses can't sit, but nevermind.) Owl on a power line is the bird equivalent. Sparrow on a power line? Fine. 300 sparrows on a power line? Ace. Owl on a power line? Isn't that beneath them?

Hm, sewage and love...

Where can I buy a bottle of that?

I think it's a Kestral, not an owl. Still - a bird of prey on a power line is odd. Fence posts, trees, even the odd light post next to the highway, but not power lines. Well, whatever works for the best mousing!

Kristen, Did I not force you to look at the little kestrel that used to hang out on the wires across from the shop? It was the size of a dove, but it was a fierce falcon.

Sounds lovely to me - better than what we did for V-day, which was deal with the aftermath of a second house fire in six months! But then we decided to get married, so we did, on Wednesday. :) Happy valentines!
