Hi Lisa & Robb,

We had a lovely Lunar show in Massachusetts this evening. I watched it with "4" fourth grade girls. We bundled up to go outside to get a good look, then realized the window from my daughter's bedroom had a much "warmer" view. We then topped the evening off with science experiments. Ahh, good times, good times!

We stood on the inch of snow on the fire escape which had the most PERFECT view of the event. Liam was wearing two pairs of binoculars to ensure that he wouldn't miss a thing. It was spectacular. Watching the few late night Baltimore pedestrians be surprised when/if they looked up from their slippery walks was a pretty great show, as well!

Alas! The moon was obscured by clouds, where we were.

Out plan is to turn off the lights in my office, and watch it on YouTube.

thanks for the heads up about the show. my photos are pathetic, even from the tripod. i should invest in a better zoom lens...maybe Hubble makes some.

We saw it from here in Pennsylvania, which just got 3 inches of snow that same afternoon. The clouds blew away just in time for us to see it, it was a brilliant full moon, the sort that casts long shadows at night across the quiet snowy landscape, long tree branch fingers stretching across the fields. The lack of street lights in our area gave an even better view. Gotta love those blood-red full moons! I felt like I was in a Dracula novel.

Ps- Before your gentle readers begin to think this countryside scene was idyllic, keep in mind we will get another 3 inches of snow tonight, topped off by an ice storm. Yippee! Don't you California folks miss driving on ice?

would you like some of my mediocre pictures? or better yet, i'll put them on my blog. they're seriously mediocre. if ever there's a category for "they don't quite suck, but they're not quite awesome" in a photo competition, i'll be sure to submit them.
