Undignified Nature

...

I was laying in bed, trying to get over my flu, and Robb shouted "Lisa, get in here, immediately!"

There must have been sixty Cedar Waxwings outside our kitchen window.

I think they all are having bad hair days. I love seeing such glorious birds look so silly!

I don't know, but I think the third one from the right is giving us the...uh... bird...
AAH! And after googling cedar waxwing to see what they should be looking like if they had an ounce of self respect, they look even more ridiculous! Glad to see you're not so sick that you can't take pictures.

I love that you will run to the window to take bird photos when you are sick as a dog. And I love that Robb knows you so well to know that it was worth dragging you out of bed to see those hilarious guys.

Feel better!

wonder if birds have a cultural memory? I live in my grandmother's house, and she fed the birds here for 50 years. After she died, I think no one fed them regularly until my parents moved in. Now we have lived here 7 years, and since our little terrier died, Gregg has been lonely and started feeding the birds. Within 1 hour we had such a collection!

I know they come and nest in the same places year after year, it reminds me a bit of a hobo legend: birdfood here!

Wow....I'm clearly still not feeling right, because I just had a panic moment, when I re-read this blog entry, and was entirely certain that Robb had re-written the entire thing. (He hadn't.) Of course, I couldn't recall what I thought I had written.

And when I went to call Robb, who was working out in the garage, I completely failed to remember his cell phone number.

Yikes.

Anyway, here are some more typical
photos of Cedar Waxwings that I've taken this year..

(These birds are clever, and very social....something that I hope to be when I get over this stupid flu!)

Oh boy!! I just love these guys arriving en mass with their adorable little bandit masks and smooth beige attire... I missed a bunch when they blasted by our place a few weeks ago for their annual visit (at least according to the kids) so thanks for sharing this wonderful, wonderful photo--

Get better soon Lisa!!

Lisa, those birds were getting ready to pick at your corpse if you died of the flu. Glad you recovered.
