East Coast Work Ethic
Eurydice
Annalisa used this phrase in her recent comment, and it seemed like a good theme for tonight.
I remember hearing that phrase a lot when I moved out to California, and I must admit that it really baffled me. Were Californians really a bunch of lazy dreamers who would rather be hiking than working? Were New Yorkers exceptional work-a-holics? I really can't comment on this.
I do know that I'm going to be working eleven hour days, probably without a day off, except for Erica and Chris' wedding.
I guess I'll try to combine an East and West Coast sensibility, and enjoy the nature that I can see from my hotel's parking lot.

3rd Generation CA Girl Anna and the 4th generation kids...
I gotta hurry up and get this finished so I can go kick back.
I'll try to give you all the free time I can.
Robb--I hope you're faring well. I think the timing of your being able to drive once more and Lisa's trip were cosmically aligned :)
I saw that Paul wrote to Lisa...is that your 'little brother', Paul? Jog his memory a bit and tell him I said 'hello'.
I chuckled with the comments about if you fall do it well, but seriously...When I was overdue with my second daughter I fell and dislocated my knee. My daughter Ali was only 17 months old and couldn't really do much as I lay on the floor with my kneecap pointing off to the side of my leg. From that point on, I always keep a house phone nearby. If yours has a clip like mine, fasten it to your pants so if you do take a 'graceful' spill, you can call someone.
Take care, both of you!!!
It blew my mind when she told me this, even more when it turned out to be true. I always figured she had the right idea about living life, by the way.
By the way, we are busy painting a huse, and nothing is a better incentive to keep working than to trip over boxes for FOUR WEEKS NOW and wake up bruised. Wish I could find a paint to match the pretty purple of my legs.
Go to NY and work all you can, and if someone makes a comment about your output, just discover your own inner "New Yorker" and snarl something rude and profane at them. I'm really, really good at that.
