Monarch on Milkweed!

...

Although we've had some fly-overs, this is the first time in the two years that we've been here that a monarch butterfly actually noticed the milkweed that I planted. Much of our garden plants were selected to feed someone, either me and Robb, or the native wildlife. The milkweeds have gone largely un-noticed by anyone except aphids until this past weekend.

I never noticed that monarch butterflies have polka-dotted bodies, until now. How wonderfully odd!

Seriously cool! Can you imagine what it must be like to see these guys land en masse during their migration?

Wow, your photography is amazing!!
Yay! Congrats! They haven't found mine yet :( Oh well, I just ordered 3 Asclepias speciosa to add to the mix. Maybe if I keep planting, they will come? I can hope!

That's sure some fancy milkweed you've got there! I've got a weedy little corner I want to put into native plants and milkweed was on my list - double that now that I see there are showier varieties than the native.

Leave it to me to look right past the butterfly to the plant.
