Delightful!

...

This little green bee was spotted at the Berkeley Bee Garden this past weekend. (I highly recommend their website.) She's like a tiny jewel.

I wonder what delightful little observation you made recently. Perhaps it was something that you'd looked at a thousand times, but never really noticed. Perhaps it was something that you always meant to do, and finally tried.

Won't you share your new discoveries with us?

I love the green sweat bees. We're actually seeing them here already this year. Last year I didn't see them until the fall when the sunflowers were in bloom, so we must be doing something right. Don't think I've made much in the way of discoveries recently...well, except for the bees with BLUE pollen on their legs...that was weirdly wonderful!

one of the things that I like most about your blogging is the fact that you really seems to enjoy to discover the place that you live at, and finding out as much as you can about the place where you live. You live in micro cosmos and you present it in a most interesting way! That is really nice:)

may I ask how smog is doing? I really do hope that he is doing just fine:)

I'm also curious how Smog is doing! I've gotten so attached to his cute ear tufts and personality!

I think insects and birds are great inspiration for clothing! Or hats.

Little things we've noticed recently--here's a dumb one. While my flowers and steadily-growing vegetables never cease to delight, yesterday I noticed, after a year and a half of living in my crooked old house, that the moulding around the kitchen doorway doesn't match. The top and right side have a compound ogee contour, almost like a baseboard, while the left side is a simple chamfer that's a good half inch narrower than the rest. Wow. That's embarrassing.

Upon returning home from vacation I discovered that I now have five broody hens! Delightful! Say, you and Rob interested in some backyard hens? Two of them are white silkies and are sitting on duds as they have no rooster. They are great adoptive moms and I can put any kind of chick from the feed store under them and they'll raise them as their own. Fun to watch!
Let me know AQ mail ;)

Forgot to say the hen and chicks would be a gift. It would be fun to hear you blog about them. :)

The color on the sweat bee is really quite stunning. I can picture him as a vintage art deco brooch sculpted from 18k rose gold, platinum and emerald, with a makers mark from the house of Cartier. Sheesh, a girl can dream, can't she?
