His Name Is Smog
...
It took me a stupidly long time to figure out this cat's name. I wanted to give him a name that alluded to his tarnished silver color, and also to his oddly dragon-like appearance.
We're calling him Smog, partly because he's a gritty, urban, California cat.
Partly because Smaug was the name of the dragon in The Hobbit.
And partly because he's a mongrel or "moggie."
I can now admit that I wasn't sure he was going to live, when I brought him home. He was such a wreck of a cat. Scrawny, flea infested, with a shattered pelvis and horrible digestive issues.
He's becoming a beauty. Despite the rough life he must have lead on the streets, he's utterly fearless, and entirely playful.
And he's going to be HUGE.

You’ve done an amazing job bringing him back to life and I know he will return your love a thousand-fold. I look forward to seeing him on patrol in all his full grown glory. It will be magnificent.

You will never regret saving him, I know that. My parents have a cat, now 16 years old, that I adopted from a litter that was abandoned in front of a pet store before the kits were old enough to be weaned. He was so little he fainted when the vet drew blood, and they told me he was blind from malnutrition and so weak he probably wouldn't live. He weighed exactly 1/4 pound and the staff there took to calling him "quarter-pounder." I had to feed him every four hours, even in the middle of the night, and help him to go to the bathroom and everything. He grew up into the sweetest, healthiest cat ever, with perfect eyesight -- and such a huge frame. Looks like Smog is headed there. :)
May Smog have as long as joyful a life as him!

And the word verification word is "fablis" - I think that is purrrrfect.
Your cat also reminds me of "Dragon" from the animated Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nihm.
