Stray

...

I was driving to the store, when I spotted a scrawny kitten, stumbling in the gutter alongside the road. Because I possess the Must Help Animals gene, I stopped the car, and scooped him up. The fact that he let me do this did not bode well.

This little guy is in rough shape. He spent the night at the emergency veterinary hospital, and I spent an appalling amount of money. He's now living in our bathroom (and hallway).

He was either struck by a car, or he was born with a freakishly tiny pelvis, or both. He can barely walk. His digestion is all messed up. He had such a severe flea infestation that he has large bald spots. His tail looks like the feline version of a balding man's comb-over. Most all the hair is gone, except for some long straggly strands.

We don't know if he is going to live or not.

But what I do know is that all I have to do is sit down on the ground, and he'll climb up and fall asleep on my lap.

Please think good thoughts for this little fellow.

Tony only weighed 10 oz. (minus flea debris and leftover blood) when we got him. He's 15 pound of mama's boy now......for what it's worth, this time will be the best of his life.....love him, enjoy him.....God Bless!

I'm sure there's nowhere he'd rather be than with you two right now. Send along my (gentle) snuggles and encouragement.

I thought that tail looked a bit odd. I'm afflicted with the same gene. That's how we got our current cat. He was a 4lb sack of bones with skin stretched over him. He had a myriad of health issues, including a systemic infection, diabetes, a bartonella infection, and was given only a few days to live. That was 11 years ago! Your new little guy has something now he didn't have a few days ago, because of you. He now has a fighting chance. Good luck Lisa, and keep us posted!

Oh, he's adorable! That face!! Face it--he knows who his Mommy is and she'll make him all better.

I'll be lighting a candle on my Bastet altar for him tomorrow. May he be imbued with the phenomenal strength that emanates from you and Robb.

My first thought was from seeing his photo: what a sweetheart! Reading the rest I recognized the look: "who are you?" combined with "I think I'm safe now."

Usually the latter takes longer than the former but this little fellow seems to have figured it out. He knows that he's safe.

Thoughts are with you all --

Dad is smiling down at you. The animal rescuing gene lives on. Good luck with your kitty. I agree with everyone here in saying that even if he doesn't make it (though I think he will make it), you are giving him a very comfortable and happy life. No wonder he jumps on your lap.

May God bless you for all of your challenges, and for having the space in you heart and your home for the beautiful four legged friend. He's a ragdoll from the looks of him, so he'll be a bit bony no matter what, The fir may come back in the bald places once the issues of fleas and ticks is resolved. They are very affectionate cats by nature, as someone already stated he came HOME when he met you.
I wish you and your family all the best, with miracles and patience for all of you.
