Another Bee Video

...

I'm sick with a spring cold. So, I'm sharing a longer video about some of the work that's being done in California to help out native bees and European honey bees. It's worth a look.

Very good video. I actually preferred the second half. It really seems so simple. Attract the native bees, provide ample forage and cover, and restore some habitat at the same time. Very much the approach we're taking here. We just set up our first colony of native Mason Bees this year. Last I checked, they're still cocooned, but the orchard is blooming, the mustard is in flower, and this year we're planting lots of CA natives around the orchard and gardens. Hopefully they'll stay, and other native bees in the area will stop by too! We'll have to see what happens.

Curbstones -- I agree!

I wasn't thrilled to watch the scientist in the first segment "pop" the drone. She's essentially killing him, by turning his boy parts inside-out. That's fine, if it serves a mating purpose, I suppose. But it's freaky if it's just a stunt for the camera.
