...This is the site I was treated to when I came home from work, two days ago. Our house, with the beautiful 85 year old redwood siding ripped of. I wasn't sure if I should cry, or throw up.
These are the emotions not discussed on all those home renovation television shows.

I see the future beauty there and it looks great.
When we fixed up our house, we had sections of entire walls ripped out to replace the origonal heavily cracked plaster. It was made of lime, sand and horsehair- by the way, that stuff is not archival. We exposed the origonal lathework- and put in new drywall where needed. It's all part of making it a safe and snug new home. I was tired of shutting the doors and having a cascade of plaster fall down on us.
We are all getting older and can use some restoration every now and then- people and houses both- make sure you guys treat yourselves well, get rest, and take your time to do it right. Take lots of pictures to show the documentation of the house, if you can stand to put down the paintbrush for even a second.
I read somewhere redwood is supposed to last for 75 years, so I guess the former owners got their money out of it.
Good luck to you-
