On Little Cat Feet

...

We have been cat-sitting for our upstairs neighbors. One of their cats is a very aloof lady, and the other is a rambunctious young man.

This cat, Billy, has some kind of neurological damage, not unlike Robb's. He is healthy and spry, and curious about everything, but he doesn't have much control over his hind feet. Billy seems utterly unaware of the fact that he has any kind of "disability." He's a normal cat, who just happens to drag his feet around when he walks.

Robb and I live in an apartment building that was built in the 1920's. The walls are stout -- still standing despite all those earthquakes -- but sound passes very easily between the floors and the ceilings. Our previous neighbor used to apologize constantly for all of his chronic asthmatic coughing. I never could convince him that we weren't such manner-less churls as to blame him being noisy as he struggled to breathe.

We occasionally hear our neighbors playing their piano, which is nice.

But what I really love is the bompity-bompity-bomp sound of their funny kitty, Billy, racing across the hardwood floors. Whenever I hear that, it puts the hugest smile on my face.

I love the sound of kitty feet running around! :) And one of my kitties, Nikita, had a respiratory infection as a kitten, so she has a perpetually stuffy nose. You can hear her sniffling before she even walks into a room. She can breathe fine, she just has the sniffles. It's really cute, especially when she's sleeping! :D

I love the sound of kitties too. Can't wait until we get some kitties running around our new house. In our old house, which was out in the country a bit, you could sometimes hear a neighbor practicing the bagpipes in the summertime when the windows were open. I loved hearing that even though he often played the same tune over and over. It wasn't loud and was lovely to hear the sound drift across the valley.
Love the photo.

We had a bagpipe playing neighbor when I was growing up.

But working at the Maryland Renaissance Festival inflicted terrible bagpipe trauma on my soul.

A friend's house flooded and so we watched one of her cats for about a month while they fixed the damage. The little cat had permanent hiccups! I had never heard a cat hiccup before, but here was this little stocky cat, trying very hard to look dignified and serious, letting out these little constant hiccups. Absolutely adorable =)

hmmm, and I thought this post was going to be about fog.

Love the kitties, especially white ones. And black ones, and torties, and orange marmalade cats, and Siamese and...
