Out for Blood

...

Robb's paralysis affects not just his muscles, but also his internal organs, so from time to time, he needs to get their well-being confirmed. He went off to "Pill Hill" to have blood drawn for tests this morning, before spending a day with his parents. (They took the Alameda Ferry to San Francisco and played tourist.)

I've been feeling horribly queasy since last Thursday, and let me tell you that being the Cheerful Hostess isn't so easy when you're spending a lot of energy considering the merits of throwing up. Wine tastings lose much of their charm under these circumstances, and work is a drag.

So, I got a doctor's appointment, and was told that I had a lot of fluid inside my ears and that it was likely that I had one of the weird stomach viruses that had been making the rounds. For good measure, the doctor ordered a battery of blood tests. I spent a long, long time in various waiting rooms, and had a lot of blood drawn. Right now, I'm doped up to my eyeballs on Sudafed and still rather nauseous. Whoo Hoo.

Continuing with this theme...I'm not sure who dreamed up this weird idea, but there's a lot of it for sale on the internet. Before you decide I'm a total ghoul, I should say that I found this when I was looking for a picture for today's blog entry.

I hope you feel better. We were just kicked in the butt w/ the stomach virus. The upshot is that I lost some weight. :-)

Lindsay actually had vertigo along w/ her stomach virus. Fun times!

Hey there Lisa-

That site advertising the "blood jewelry" is a total joke. Anyone with any experience with blood knows it congeals once outside the body (and inside as well, once you stop breathing). I have lots of experience with blood, as I mop it off my basement floor on a regular basis, but, er.. ok, I better stop talking now. Forget I even mentioned it!

Glad Robb's parents are enjoying their visit, and I hope you feel better soon. I am imagining that you are curled up on your couch, covered by a blanket and surrounded by all the birdies you helped out when THEY were sick and covered with oil. I won't put you in a cage with your own private pool, though, unless you want, but it does sound like a luxurious idea! All except for feeding you raw fish, unless you are into sushi! But sushi and stomach viruses don't mix well.

It's a change being the one resting up from an illness, with Robb being the one to go out and get in trouble now, so enjoy it and rest up.

Annalisa

Ps- I'm feeding a stray mama cat and 3 kittens. I can forsee a cat family in the barn in the near future. I guess they are my early xmas present! Would you like an kitty for xmas?

Glad to see Robb enjoying the beach. I live in Petaluma so am only a short drive away. That Bloodvials website was too much. Too bad I am done Christmas shopping. Petaluma has some letterboxes as well as many good restaurants. Next time you guys go to the beach swing thru here. Lots of antique stores too if thats your thing.
