We've continued our Must-See tour of kids' attractions of the East Bay with a trip to the Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek. This place has a dual mission. They rehabilitate injured wildlife. And they educate people about our relationship with the natural world.
I thought that my little niece Lindsay, who lives in Brooklyn, might enjoy getting an up-close gawk at some of our California wildlife.

It's great that you find these fabulous places for your niece to visit. Every school year, I worry more about childrens' imaginations getting lost in the world of tv, and reality. For many of my low socioeconomic students, they have so much responsibility (cooking, cleaning and watching younger siblings) at such a young age, they really lack the time to just wonder and imagine. Many have never been exposed to fairy tales and when I mention Mother Goose they think it's some sort of animal. I wonder what they would get out of a park like the one you took your niece to yesterday. I wish we had one around here (L.I.) so I could plan a field trip there. As for your cute and fuzzy friend--good for him to have found a place that helps injured animals--even scary, fuzzy spiders!
