The Sweater Curse

...

There's a bit of knitting folklore that states if you make a sweater for the man in your life, the two of your are going to break up. I don't take this at all seriously, but Linguine seems concerned. As I was trying on the sleeve of the sweater that I'm making for Robb, and she pounced on the yarn with all her might.

Sweater curse notwithstanding, I do believe that getting your sweetie's name tattooed anywhere on your body is Instant Relationship Death.

I would add to that, that the more universally "visible" the tattoo, the more likely and/or more rapidly the breakup! :-)

Maybe Linguini is just jealous. "That color would look great with my fur!" =)

We think that in the dark primordial past, cats used to subsist on delicious but annoying flying serpents. That's why they are so determined to murder any string that gets dangled near their faces.

Your cat looks like a demented bath mat.

We're not 100% convinced that she actually is a cat.

Is she a furry demon?

So far I've named mine after a queen goddess and a trickster god and it fits their personalities soooo well that I'm starting to wonder myself. Who else but a divine being could get me to clean up whatever smelly stuff they expel from their bodies and still have me love them so?

This topic has come up at my knitting group quite a few times, we've decided that it only really counts before you're married, so you and Robb should be safe. :)

I knitted a very ugly sweater for my husband before we were married. I didn't mean for it to be ugly that is just the way it turned out. We celebrated out 37th wedding anniversary last May. So maybe if your knit a really gorgeous sweater it is over.

I can't imagine anything as idiotic as a sweater coming between you two. Think of it this way, it will merely 'knit' you two closer together. Looped fiber has not the strength to separate soul mates.

I was told a great story this summer about a friend of a friend who had the traditional heart with waving banner under it tatooed on her arm, but for whatever reason the banner was blank. Apparently, after a few dates with someone new, she would sharpie their name onto the banner to freak them out.

Erica -- that's utterly demented! I love it!
