The Phoenix

Recently, this astonishing object arrived in the mail.

It held a card, and this smaller box.

The card contained a lovely message and an original print
from Kathie, the artist who sent this beautiful object.

In the box was a poem and a hand carved rubber stamp.

The phoenix is a golden-red mythological bird, who rises from the ashes of his own destruction. The bird is also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded, and thus is almost immortal or invincible.

So many people have shared their own stories of healing,
and we have drawn a great deal of strength from all of this.

We are so deeply touched by what people have choosen to share with us.

Thank you.

Not for the first time, I remain amazed at your friends -- not that you have so many of them from such diverse universes, not that they are artistic, creative sorts, but that they are such TALENTED artistic, creative sorts.

Wow! I feel so honored. It looks so good, you take very proffessional photos! I'm so glad that my small gesture has helped Robb and you along the road to recovery. You're both so brave and the fact that you're sharing your journey will help someone else someday, you can be sure.

Robb has come so far in such a short time. What a blessing! I know that these things are measured in years but it seems like Robb's recovery is moving along really fast. Yipee!

Thanks for sharing my phoenix with your friends and family. I really am humbled.

Take care, Kathie
