And the quilt and the cat look perfect under it too.

I think there are pines in the Bethlehem area, at least, but everything else stays green (or greens up, like here?) in winter so they're not such a big deal -- you're right, that's all pagan stuff from northern Europe. Arguably, celebrating Xmas in midwinter is paganish too, and lots of the more dour and scowly Protestant churches don't make a big deal out of it.

I, on the other hand, am all for making big deals and having holidays. My fave so far is Now Ruz, Persian New Year. They do it for three weeks! Those folks know how to have a good time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21900544.post-90160597553039842122007-12-27T19:55:00.000-08:002007-12-27T19:55:00.000-08:00Happy Holidays to you both. It made me think of warm weather and sunny beaches. Here in NY it's quite dreary--no leaves on the trees, the grass is pale, and the only wildlife hanging around are the two squirrels that made a mad dash towards my car today (I was able to avoid them, but I felt as though they were laughing at me like in the Geico commercial). Hope your New Year is happy and healthy!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21900544.post-76447950508435238382007-12-27T19:12:00.000-08:002007-12-27T19:12:00.000-08:00excellent tree. could you get any presents under ...excellent tree. could you get any presents under it, or did Linguine hog it all?

Our new family member, Teddy, has not actually climbed the christmas tree, but he has knocked plenty of the ornaments off and tackled them like only a kitten can. He also likes drinking out of the base. Not sure why.

Your knitting is gorgeous. I'm still at the stage where its a toss-up whether I'll purl or poke myself in the eye. Always impressed with the delicate webs that your needles spin.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04164548989072633998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21900544.post-33737289707209701602007-12-27T08:52:00.000-08:002007-12-27T08:52:00.000-08:00Your cat is so cute an awesome. You are an inspiration to me in so many ways...
I read the blog a lot, but am usually so caught up in desperately trying to remember if I actully have a google and/or blogger account or not, then I fail to comment. But I AM here and I do love both of you, you know!
Cheers and nothing but the good stuff! For 2008 and hell; the rest of 2007 too! The evergreen tree is a completely pagan symbol. I bet you'd be hard-pressed to find a pine tree in Bethlehem, but there might be plenty of palm type trees.

And we won't even discuss the dancing snow men or flying reindeer in the context of the birth of the Christ Child, will we now?Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03932975112078606231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21900544.post-42397203001913575572007-12-26T12:21:00.000-08:002007-12-26T12:21:00.000-08:00I like your palm Christmas tree!
